Well, it seems the game has been released earlier than expected. I was looking at Cinescape.com and noticed a small article on the upcoming LOTR games. And the game I have been waiting for seems to be out.. now. This is weird because the last time I was at the mall, about last week, they said it was not due out until November 5. And when I looked at the box, it said it was to be released November 5th as well. I will certainly check this out first hand and hit the mall and see if it is indeed out. If so, dont expect to see me on EQ that much as I usually am. This game is awesome. I saw it on Extended Play and the sword fighting is the most realistic swordplay I have ever seen in a game. They showed you a sequence with Aragorn ripping through the orcs in the Battle of Helms Deep. Those who read the books know what I am talking about

Looks interesting but as with most PS2 games I tend to beat them in about 1-2 week's . I might rent it out though for a beer / sword evening.

OMFG, this is EASILY the best game I have ever played! I can't believe im taking this time off from playing the game its that addictive. But I felt I owed it to you to let you know just how PERFECT this game is.
Ok, the game may be titled "The Two Towers", but in fact its the first two movies. The first movie takes place in the first half of the game. How they did it was phenomal! The game starts off exactly like the movie with Galadriel telling you the story. In fact, its the exact part of the movie on the game. BUT.. here is where the fun kicks in.. remember when they show you the orcs rushing the elves and men and the elves have those kewl weapons that they slice into the orcs with? Well, soon as that happens, it fades into the game and you play as Isildur and you are set loot to run around that whole scenario fighting orcs! As you are fighting, you can see orcs and elves and men in the background slugging it out and some even coming to help you fight some orcs. The fighting is UNBELIEVABLE! Its so realistic its actually giving me goosebumps writing this lol. You level your characters (Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas). Each scenario gives you points and with those points you can "purchase" or learn new combos or finishing death blows. The movements are SO REAL. You can kick your enemy down and knock em over, you hear swords deflecting off one another and sparks flying in the process.
Also, there are some added scenes in. Like before our heroes get to Moria, you can play as Legolas or whatever other character you want and scout out the way to it. In the process you are attacked by orcs and end up in the Watcher' Lake right in front of Moria.. and here is the best part..... as you are fighting the orcs.. the Watcher (remember that octopus creature in the movie?) is grabbing and devouring the orcs as you fight them in the water and on land. You can dual wield evlen blades and shoot your bow with outstanding speed just like in the movie. Watching the Watcher snag the orcs was the icing on the cake to a perfect game.
That is as far as I have gotten so far but OMFG what a game. If this game was online, I would drop EQ in a heartbeat and forget about WoW its that good. Hell, you can see your character's breath in the cold scenes. OH!, as you progress through the levels, you can unlock exclusive interviews and scenes from The Two Towers! Not only that, but the real actors from the movies themselves helped make this game with their voices and attacking moves. Some of the unlocked footage shows the characters raving about this game and playing it. Even Ian McKellan (Gandalf) loved it lol! It was just really kewl seeing that. Thats enough for this geek's review. All I can say is if you do not have PS2.. GET IT ALONE FOR THIS GAME! It is just that good.

Just wondering how far you have got now bro as my GF is looking for gift ideas for me for christmas. Although this looks like a great game I don't want one which only lasts a short while. Any ideas on the total gaming time for this one?

I finished the game with Aragorn, just need to finish it with Gimli, Legolas, and the secret character I unleashed =P Plus you can go back to previously played boards and redo them and collect more experience to help achieve newer skills for the harder boards towards the end. I really enjoy the hidden features you unlock as well.
